The Lay Center: 30 Years

Founded in 1986, the Lay Center is a home away from home for many in the Eternal City.

Known as the Lay Center at Foyer Unitas, this is where many fortunate lay students live while studying in Rome:  http://www.laycentre.org/

Countless hundreds of students from all over the world have benefited by living here and have been enriched by the programs.

I myself have enjoyed the hospitality of the community many hundreds of times.  Some of my best Rome memories were spent here -- lighting up cigars in the garden at night in the pouring rain while running down the Caelian Hill past the shadows of the Coliseum to catch the last train out of Rome at Ostiense.

Founded by Donna, an American student who arrived in Rome in the 1970s, the work continues.
