Catholic Culture: Aquamarine Ring of Cardinals

Cardinal Cushing from East Third Street, South Boston.

  1. Wasn't he an early liberal, verging on extreme at Vatican II. I know that he was not known as a lover of Catholic tradition.

He died in November, 1970 at 75.

  2. A very early liberal. At Vatican II, he asked the other council fathers, "When are we going to have the Breviary in the venacular so that our clergy know what they are praying?"

  3. Are you surprised that the Cardinal to the Kennedy family was a Liberal?

  4. Cardinal Cushing was never really at the Council. He went for 2-3 weeks each year and then went back to Boston to raise money for his missions/charities. At the 3rd session he helped push for religious liberty, as did many of the USA bishops.

  5. These outrageously sniping and petty rumours concerning the departed Cardinal Cushing from Boston show exactly what kind of ill-informed traditionalist losers occupy their sick thoughts with un-Christian anecdotes they gleaned from other silly traditionalist rags and websites.

You should all be ashamed of your pettiness, and you should re-research Vatican II and see how Cardinal Cushing was an active participant according to his duties back home.
